María Inés Olmedo (MIO) is a Mexican, London-based theatre and performing arts producer and maker, with over 10 years working across film, film festivals, theatre and opera internationally.      

MIO began her career in Mexico City, where she has produced more than 20 critically acclaimed theatre, musical, and opera productions -collaborating with some of the country’s most recognised directors, performers, and designers, as well as leading cultural institutions.

Her journey in London’s opera and theatre scene began in 2018, and in 2022 she made her West End debut as a producer. Among her ongoing credits is co-producing the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, A Strange Loop.

As a creative producer, MIO is dedicated to telling daring stories across disciplines – primarily, though not exclusively, highlighting Latin American and international writers and introducing their work to wider English- speaking audiences. Her mission is to champion perspectives and voices that are vibrant, thought-provoking, and inspiring, bringing to life stories with a powerful universal resonance in today’s world. 

She holds an MFA in Advanced Theatre Practice from London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Shortly after graduating, she debuted as a stage director at The Arcola Theatre with her sold-out, four-star immersive opera production, A Fantastic Bohemian.

Before establishing her production company in London, MIO worked as Assistant Director at English National Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, and Royal Opera House, as well as Producer Trainee at Playful Productions, one of the West End’s leading commercial theatre producers.
